Amnesty International (AI) Mexico, Catholics for the Right to Decide and Marea Verde Mx demonstrated outside the United States embassy in Mexico against the determination of the Supreme Court of that country that ended the protection of the right to abortion, and left it up to the governors to authorize it.

Marcela Villalobos, president of the steering committee of Amnesty International Mexico, told the American women that they are not alone and that the green tide in favor of the legal interruption of pregnancy (ILE) will insist that guarantee and fulfill that right in all the countries of the region. We are with them, and we are not going to stop.

In a handkerchief for the right to choose, the activists launched various slogans: You are murderers, in abortions those who die are women; Abortion yes, abortion no, I decide that Y if the pope were a woman, abortion would be lawamong others, and called to sign the online petition launched by AI Mexico.

Villalobos stressed that the decision of the highest court in the United States represents a setback of half a century, and that it was a struggle of civil and feminist organizations. She regretted that this time they have succeeded the anti-rightsbut the national and international pressure will manage to make state governors aware to issue laws in favor of the ILE.

Forcing any person with the capacity to gestate to terminate an unwanted pregnancy can be considered torture, because it is being decided against their will, and on their body. These criminalizing, stigmatizing narratives against this right have led us to this decision, to an unfortunate ruling by the Supreme Court of that country, where in the end six men were the ones who decided.

The message that is sent to women is that they do not decide about their bodies, it is the State based on their ideas and beliefs that do not adhere to international human rights law, and that go against the basic principles of human rights. , that of progressivity. This is a regressive policy.

He indicated that, although it affects all women, it is cruel to the most vulnerable, such as migrants who do not have residence papers. Where before there was a clinic near each woman, now they will have to go looking for her in other states, many kilometers away..
