In the face of the elections of the Judicial Power of the Federation of June 1, the National Council of Indigenous Peoples demanded this Monday, the greater inclusion in the process of its 70 communities distributed nationwide, which contemplates the Afromexican peoples, ensuring that they are in an inequitable contest because they represent less than one percent of all candidates.
Yaneth del Rosario Cruz Gómez, general coordinator of the Council, commented that the group promotes the campaigns of its seven candidates because They are our only possibility to achieve a real change
within their communities. To reach some position, he stressed that they will seek to promote and guarantee the rights of their communities, even internationally.
In a six -point positioning, read by Cruz at a press conference, the Council ratified that More than 200 years of independent life, we remain excluded from the justice system of our country, characterized by being formalistic, elitist, class and racist
. He indicated that their participation in the election is supported by the entry into force of the reform to the second article of the Constitution, which recognizes them as subjects of public law, with legal personality and own assets.
He stressed that, at the time, this council made reform proposals to guarantee the indigenous presence in the Judiciary, but did not advance, So now the participation of our brothers and sisters encourages our hope of having a justice with cultural relevance
.
He pointed out that the current justice system remains distant from the problems and reality of their peoples. He pointed out that the process will follow and monitor our institutions, authorities, forms of organization and, above all, what their assemblies for the exercise of these resources are sent.
He accused that the National Electoral Institute practically condemns being passive citizens who cannot express and make our solidarity feel with the brothers and sisters who participate in the contest
. He stressed that it is a historical moment to promote a justice that takes into account the various social and cultural contexts of Mexico, an aspect that can only be achieved with institutions that incorporate competent judges.
He confirmed that they will participate in the elaboration of the General Law on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Aphromexicans.
