The relatives of the political prisoners Juan Sebastián Chamorro, Félix Maradiaga and Suyen Barahona demand that the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo allow a call between the prisoners and their sons, daughters and partners who are outside of Nicaragua.
The demand arises prior to the two “special” visits that the regime authorized for the hostages of conscience on December 24 and 31, in view of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
On December 7, all the political prisoners detained in the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ), known as “El Chipote”, received a family visit and their sons and daughters for four hours, some saw their little ones for the first time after 18 months of captivity.

«Support me in getting my daughter and I to have a call with my husband Juan Sebastián Chamorro after 549 days of total incommunication with us. #ChristmasIsFamilyGathered. We need Juan back in our lives!” Victoria Cárdenas, Chamorro’s wife, demanded on Twitter.
Barahona, Chamorro and Maradiaga have not had any kind of communication with their sons, daughters, wives or husbands in more than 500 days of confinement despite the various campaigns they have promoted to achieve that long-awaited reunion.
«I ask that the dignity of my husband Juan Sebastián Chamorro be respected, that he be returned to his home from where he should never have left because he is innocent. I ask for an end to the solitary confinement that my daughter and I have suffered for the last year and a half with him. We need to embrace it. Be our voice asking for freedom,” Cárdenas said in another tweet.
Suyen Barahona’s family has launched a campaign called #UnaLlamadaParaSuyen so that the woman and child can see each other and that this “will give them some confidence that you are here in this world and not just in their memories. If something as basic as a photograph made your soul happy, hearing her voice again and seeing her through a camera would be indescribable ».
“In the framework of the Christmas and New Year festivities, new visits have been announced for our family members who are political prisoners on December 24 and 31. It is an opportunity for Suyen to have a call with her son,” the family of the political prisoner wrote on her Twitter account.
The political prisoner Suyen Barahona was able to see her five-year-old son only in photographs, which moved her to tears, after more than 540 days without being able to meet the little one again, she confirmed to Article 66 César Dubois, husband of the opponent. Dubois and Barahona’s offspring are out of Nicaragua as a result of the arrest of the opposition member.
