The community defenders with a labor component, they will be empowered to provide early care, guidance and accompaniment to women in situations of violence, as announced by the Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, Diva Guzmanduring an act of delivery of certificates to the men and women who will work to reinforce gender justice and eradicate the patriarchal culture in the workplace.
From the headquarters of the Women’s Bench (Banmujer), in Caracas, Minister Guzmán stated that “communal defenders have the capacity to carry out social control over the institutions that must attend to, protect and provide security to women victims of violence, in accordance with the provisions of the laws ”.
“It is an honor to be able to achieve this goal of certifying our community labor defenders. In times of war, any training process is a revolutionary act,” said Guzmán.
He asked to trust the work of this team, to enforce protection policies, to show that there is a State that does accompany the fight against violence. “Everything that involves voluntarily managing in favor of human rights is a concrete example of socialism,” said the Minister for Women.
He recalled that the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, recognized the ethics and value of Venezuelan women, and called on them to support his government management. In this sense, she expressed: “our role should be to promote solidarity among women and accompany other sisters in situations of violence.”
Community defender Horlenis Díaz stated that through the training program of the National Institute for Women, was formed to promote the importance of living together in an egalitarian culture. “With the certification I will be able to help family and friends to strengthen their rights.”
Meanwhile, Edwin Hernández, certified as a community defender, affirmed: “I was encouraged to take the course to be able to guarantee the accompaniment and defense of women, in the midst of the increase in violence against women in our communities.”
