They definitively eliminate mobilization expenses for mayors, councilors and representatives

The mobilization expenses enjoyed by some officials in the country were permanently eliminated for mayors, councilors and representatives, reported the Comptroller General of the Republic.

Through circular No. 8-2022-DC-DNFG, the Comptroller of the Republic Gerardo Solís, informed the authorities of local governments at the national level, the heads, deputy heads, the coordinator of Multisectoral Prosecution and control supervisors in the municipalities, that this benefit has been eliminated.

The decision comes after they carried out an administrative, economic and functional study on the assignments that were granted to municipal officials.

According to the Comptroller’s Office, this study had been ordered 15 years ago, during the Carlos Vallarino administration, but it was never carried out.

There were 37 professionals including accountants, auditors, statisticians and lawyers who analyzed the respective data for three weeks to conclude in the elimination of mobilization expenses.

Data from the Comptroller indicates that SWIn mobilization expenses, 751 mayors and representatives receive about $12 million annually. The data shows that the funds allocated depend on the district.
