They decree three days of mourning for tragedy in Las Tejerías

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, reported this Sunday that President Nicolas Maduro decreed three days of mourning for the death of Venezuelans in Las Tejerías, Aragua state, as a result of heavy rains.

From the scene of the events, the vice president pointed out that the Head of State decreed the area a tragedy zone, as well as three days of mourning for the loss of Venezuelans.

“We have also lost children, which is very unfortunate,” said Rodríguez, who specified that so far 22 people have been reported dead and at least 52 missing, so the search for these people is fundamentally addressed.

He explained that the tragedy occurred in the central area of ​​Tejerías due to a large landslide in the El Béisbol sector, where five streams overflowed.

Several active fronts

“We are activated on different work fronts. A search front where all our security agencies, our Bolivarian National Armed Forces are activated in the search in the rivers,” Rodríguez said, commenting that “there are people who are still walled up.”

In this sense, he said “we are trying to rescue them alive, and from now on we extend our condolences to the families who have lost a loved one. We are giving them support.”

He also said that the system for the care of people who lost their homes is also activated. “Here we are enabling important shelters in the state of Aragua where these people will be located today.”

He said that President Maduro has been speaking all this week to the Venezuelan population about the effects of the climate crisis that is causing these tragedies.

“This large landslide had never been seen in this area. More than five streams overflowed », he highlighted.

“We are going to keep the entire body of ministers activated here, attending to material losses.”

In this regard, he reported that the merchants lost their premises and the peasants their crops.

Public Banking

That is why, -he said- that this Monday, October 10, “the Public Banking system will be present in Las Tejerías, lending and providing support to these people who had an economic impact.”
