MIAMI, United States. – The doctor of Sciences Jorge González Pérez, president of the Cuban Society of Legal Medicine, reported this Wednesday at a press conference that it was “absolutely impossible to identify” the remains of the 14 people who disappeared in the fire at the Cuban Supertanker Base. killings.
“What we have explained to the relatives is that we have 14 groups of bone remains that correspond to the 14 disappeared people,” said González Pérez.
The president of the Cuban Society of Legal Medicine also specified that the expert work had been concentrated around tank 51.
“It is estimated that in the center of the fire there were more than 1,000 or 2,000 thousand degrees Celsius, which will be proven criminalistically,” said González Pérez.
“In a corpse incinerator like the ones in Cuba or in any country in the world, in two hours, at 800 degrees Celsius, a body turns to ash. In such a way that, based on this concept, the first modeling we did was that if the conditions there were due to the effect of the flames, everything could have disappeared”, explained the doctor.
“The first model,” he said, “was that we were not going to find anything and that everything was ash dissolved in the fuel that had been spilled.”
Meanwhile, the second modeling took into account a possible collapse on a body, the fall of tubes or the detachment of a metallic element that could have fallen on a body and prevent carbonization, that is, a total incineration of that body.
According to González Pérez, the specialists also took into account that, due to the fuel spill, the bodies could be under the liquid and the combustion would not be complete depending on the moment in which the fire was extinguished.
Despite the fact that the official declared it impossible to identify the skeletal remains, the island’s regime has not yet reported the identity of the people who died in the fire.
The Minister of Public Health (MINSAP) of Cuba, José Ángel Portal Miranda, reported that “the characterization and classification of each of the bone remains found” in the area of the fire at the Matanzas Super Tanker Base had begun this Tuesday.
Last Sunday, specialized teams found bone remains at the site of the fire, the Health Minister said on Twitter.
The fragments were found in “several places in the area” of the fire and were sent to “laboratories for identification.”
Two days earlier, on Friday, August 12, Portal Miranda also reported that the remains of four people had been found.
According to official data, 16 people died in the fire at the Matanzas Supertanker Base.
