The Nicaraguan Public Ministry, controlled by Sandinismo, filed a criminal accusation against the young opposition woman and journalism student, Samantha Jirón Padilla, of the Blue and White National Unit (UNAB), who has been detained since Tuesday, November 9. . But the crime that is imputed to him does not appear registered in the electronic system of the Judicial Power.
The accusation against Jirón Padilla was presented by prosecutor Georgina Reyes, on Saturday, November 13 at 10:44 in the morning, at the Office of Reception and Distribution of Causes and Writings (ORDICE), of the Managua Judicial Complex. Now his case is settled in the fifth criminal district court of hearings, in charge of Judge Nalia Úbeda Obando.
Regarding the crime that the young opposition woman is accused of, the only thing that is known is that her alleged victims are the State of Nicaragua and Nicaraguan society. For what her mother, Carolina Jirón, values that it is a cause of a political nature, since the young journalism student supported the campaign of the presidential candidate and political prisoner, Félix Maradiaga.
Jirón Padilla was also part of the UNAB youth and student sector, but had temporarily withdrawn claiming that “he would take a break from” political activism “for mental health,” according to information released by UNAB.
Detained in District III
The young woman was captured on November 9 by plainclothes police officers as she was leaving the Holiday Inn hotel in Managua after giving an interview to a media outlet. “When leaving the hotel, the agents chased and stopped the vehicle (in which it was moving). They only took Samantha ”, denounced the UNAB.

The day after the arrest, Jirón Padilla’s mother confirmed to Article 66 that the young woman was in the District III police station. In that place “they received me a meal and clothes that I brought him.” Then “they handed me dirty clothes that she sent,” Jirón said.
Before being detained, Jirón Padilla reported that she suffered threats and persecution. So she was in a safe house for some time, but she always received phone calls from people who “told her that they had her located and that they were going to bill her,” her mother told Article 66.
In 2018 Jirón Padilla went into exile in Costa Rica for security reasons, but in July of this year he decided to return to Nicaragua to be with his family in the city of Masaya.
