They create ‘Vigilant Collective Carriers’, to promote safe travel in Western Panama

The National Police, with the purpose of promoting a “safe trip” so that users and carriers are not victims of assailants, held a meeting with the transportation unions of West Panama, on the afternoon of this Saturday, February 12.

During the meeting, the carriers presented their concern about the criminal acts that have been staged in recent months, as well as the unfair competition they have with certain alternative transport drivers.

The deputy director general of the National Police, Simón Henríquez, said that the carriers will be part of the “Career Collective Carriers” program, and this will allow them to have better communication with the chiefs of areas of West Panama and the capital city than in a At any given time they may alert about an anomaly that puts the safety of passengers at risk.

For his part, Thomas Herron, Director of Operations and Security of the Great National Transport Terminal, requested more police presence with units specialized in security and drug-related crimes, as well as the collaboration of drivers and passengers so that they use safe transport from the terminal.

The representative of the carriers of the Western sector, Guzmán Blanco, described the meeting with the members of the National Police as positive, and hopes to put into practice the prevention and safety messages that were provided by the uniformed officers to enjoy a trip sure.

The meeting with the carriers was held at the headquarters of the Superior Police Institute (ISPOL), Presidente Belisario Porras, located in Gamboa.
