They confiscate more than 400 firearms during searches in Penitentiary Centers

A total of 417 firearms, 8,406 ammunition, 379 firearms suppliers, 14,107 cell phones seized in searches by the National Police and the Department of Penitentiary Security of the Penitentiary System, according to statistical data from 48 months of managing the current administration.

According to figures from the Department of Penitentiary Security, some 1,405 searches have been carried out since July 2019, resulting in the confiscation of more than 30,000 sharp weapons, in addition to the seizure of 56 unmanned aircraft known as “drones”. ”, and 1,774 launches were thwarted thanks to the constant patrolling of the prisons.

Euclides Joel Castillo G., General Director of the Penitentiary System, stressed that the data shows the commitment of the National Police and the Penitentiary System, to maintain an environment of peace and healthy coexistence in the penitentiary centers, with the purpose of continuing to promote the programs of resocialization to provide productive reintegration tools to the penitentiary population. He affirmed that they will continue reinforcing security controls in all prisons in the country to counteract the entry of illegal items and substances.
