With the objective of ensuring the health of the population, the San Miguelito Regional Health Office carried out an inter-institutional health operation at different street vendors, located around the San Miguelito subway station.
Given the large number of complaints from the population, for the sale of clandestine cheeses and other products of unknown origin, highlighted the head of Public Health Martín Alpirez.
In this operation, more than 15 street vendors that did not meet the sanitary conditions were inspected, the handlers did not have a health card.
Products of unknown origin were seized, without sanitary registration and in inadequate conditions such as cheeses, Chinese sauce, cheese sticks, beans, creams, curdled milk, among others, said the deputy director of the Nuevo Veranillo health center Viodelda de Lorenzo.
Most of these products that were seized were from foreigners who resist legalizing the products. Therefore, they represent a serious risk to the health of the population that consume these products.
This can lead to diseases due to toxins, bacteria and parasites that can cause death depending on the immune system of the person who ingests it, said the head of Food Control and Veterinary Surveillance Nadje Segundo.
In this health operation, the institutions of the National Police, Customs, Nuevo Veranillo Health Center, National Migration Service, Departments of Veterinary Surveillance Control, Public Health and Environmental Sanitation participated.
