This Friday, December 10, the interdepartmental passenger transport sector carried out a 24-hour strike with a concentration in the Tres Cruces terminal, where they delayed the departure of some buses, in protest of the limited progress in the round of the Salary Councils .
As a result of the demonstration that sought to “slow down traffic, but not impede free movement,” according to the union, police personnel intervened and fired two shots with non-lethal ammunition (rubber bullets) that injured one of the protesters.
Deep repudiation
From the UNOTT a statement was issued in which they expressed their “deep repudiation” for the events that occurred in the framework of the mobilization of interdepartmental transport workers.
“Unfortunately, the excessive use of police force without any justification resulted in a worker injured by rubber bullets,” the union denounced.
The transporters’ union assured that this event, “by the way unfortunate, is far from intimidating the working class and further reaffirms the struggle carried out by the workers.”
“In the context where these actions take refuge, it should not be part of the normative framework that regulates the mobilizations, for this reason we reaffirm the position of annulling 135 articles of the LUC. UNOTT continues to bet on dialogue and collective bargaining as well as understanding in all spheres of society, ”said the union.
