Feminist groups and mothers of victims of femicide and disappearance held a ceremony and installed an offering to the memory of those who are no longer there, in the old Glorieta de Colón, which a year ago was renamed after the women who fight, in Paseo de reform. In addition, they inaugurated the memorial garden We are not all, where they placed a pink cross to resignify this space.
During the act they shouted slogans and called the list of some murdered women, among them those who died without knowing the whereabouts of their daughters or relatives: now, now, it becomes indispensable, presentation alive and punishment of the guilty! Why do we look for them? Because we love them! Where are they, where are they, our sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, where are they?
. They chanted as they placed the portraits of femicide victims on top of rose petals and lit candles and a candle.
Likewise, to commemorate the first anniversary of having installed a purple metal figure of a woman with her fist raised, to demand that the authorities name this roundabout after the women who fight, they restored the paint on the metal fences with which the pedestal was fenced and posters with the names of several murder victims were installed. There were also some cultural events, including a performance by Las Capuchas Rosas.
Yadira González, from the group Unidas Siempre Buscando, does not lose hope of locating her brother Juan González, who disappeared in Querétaro in 2006. She pointed out that a year after the occupation of said esplanade, they have not noticed any changes or progress made by the authorities so that they recognize their demands. The demand remains the same as the first day we took over the roundabout of the women who fight. This place has nothing more to do with the issue of femicide and disappearance, but rather the various struggles that a woman has in this country, that is, the indigenous mothers, the struggle for the defense of the land, the water, there are many other struggles that are represented in this roundabout
.
However, he said that the issue of femicide and disappearance is more visible because the murder of women continues. We are not the only ones fighting for this space of resistance and memory. There are many groups. The roundabout resists, protects itself and keeps this name. We tried to talk with the authorities of the Government of Mexico City, but they have not accepted our conditions. Let Claudia Sheinbaum come, so that she knows the roundabout and knows what it is about and talks with us
.
María Herrero Magdaleno is the mother of four young people who disappeared in the regions of Guerrero and Michoacán, where they worked buying and selling gold. A year ago we took this place as a memory space to make society aware of the situation we are experiencing in Mexico.
.
He expressed that as parents they would like to take all the spaces to call the attention of both the people and the authorities, in order to make their pain and this situation visible. so cruel
