Acapulco, Gro., Local artists, creators, activists and cultural promoters yesterday commemorated the birth of the professor and social fighter Lucio Cabañas Barrientos, in a ceremony to recover historical memory in the main square of Acapulco.
They insisted that it is a mockery that the Secretary of Culture of Guerrero had paid tribute on November 9 to the former PRI governor Rubén Figueroa (1975-1981), “a chieftain and repressor,” who committed torture and outrage against young people from Guerrero.
In this context, the Council of the Autonomous University of Guerrero agreed that on December 30, a memorial in the school, which includes the names of the extinct guerrillas Genaro Vázquez Rojas, Lucio Cabañas Barrientos, Victoria Fernández Brito, Bertoldo Martínez Cruz, Antonio Sotelo Pérez and Arturo Miranda Ramírez.
