Alleged Viva Air scam, why?

According to the complaint by the Minister of Transportation, Guillermo Reyes, Viva Air would have collected some 272,000 million pesos in services they never provided.

This was confirmed by Eduar Alirio Calderón, specialized anti-corruption director of the prosecutor’s office, in the Caracol Radio media outlet.

“Indeed, we received a complaint from the Minister of Transportation and a lawyer who filed the respective complaint, there is a mass scam that is being reported by all users who were affected by the purchase of tickets and by the cessation of operations of that company,” he said.

Apparently the crime of fraud would have been committed at the time they left the option to buy tickets enabled until February 27.

“The attorney general asked to prioritize this case”

The Attorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, requested to prioritize the investigation in this case.

For now, they are in the process of gathering the information to determine whether to call for questioning or not.

With this, they hope to establish what was the role of managers in the cessation of operations.

“We are trying to assess how the performance of this company was and what responsibility each of the directors and managers had in order to establish possible responsibilities, once we have that, surely and if necessary an investigation will be called,” Calderón explained.
