LOS CASTELLANOS, Villa La Mata.- The community members of this rice and livestock area demanded that the Ministry of Public Works rehabilitate the local road, which is in an advanced state of deterioration.
José Nuñez, spokesman for the farmers and ranchers of Los Castellanos, stated that several weeks ago the community entities here met with Senator Ricardo de los Santos and Governor Cristiana Rodríguez and both officials promised to manage the rehabilitation of said communication channel.
He argued that in the different governments of the last twenty years, this town in the Angelina rice district has been promised the execution of these and other works, but time passes and we continue from the same to the worse.
Other works
In addition to the neighborhood road, according to Nuñez, here we want the construction of another public school, interconnection of electricity 24 hours and drainage and cleaning of the irrigation channel to the rice plantations.

In addition to rice, in Los Castellanos, bananas, cocoa, sweet potatoes, yautia and cattle are produced.
On several occasions the people here have wanted to carry out protest actions, and if the authorities do not take us into account, we will carry out a work stoppage and blocking vehicular traffic between Cotui and San Francisco de Macoris is not ruled out, he argued.
