The 2nd Criminal Court of Control of Guárico, San Juan de los Morros extension, decreed deprivation of liberty against Ali Eduardo Añón Sojo, coordinator of the Public Defense in the plains entity, allegedly involved in extortion, according to judicial sources.
Anon Sojo He was arrested last Thursday on Fuerzas Armadas avenue in the capital of Guariqueña through a controlled delivery procedure designed by Poliguárico agents. That operation was carried out after a person denounced that Añón Sojo was charging him $4,000 to process a release for that person’s father, according to initial investigations.
Once captured, Añón Sojo was transferred this Saturday to the Guárico Palace of Justice where the presentation hearing was held. In that act, the Public Ministry was represented by the 13th prosecutors of Guárico with jurisdiction in extortion and kidnapping and the 55th national anti-corruption. Said representatives charged the detainee for the alleged commission of the crimes of intentional delay of functions, assumption of valimiento (making promises claiming to have influence) and collusion (association of two or more people in order to commit crimes), explained the source.
The Court accepted the prequalification of the crimes charged by the Public Ministry, decreed the deprivation of liberty and ordered the defendant to be held in the police headquarters of the Juan Germán Roscio Nieves municipality (San Juan de los Morros), located in the Rómulo Gallegos urbanization .
Until now, the general public defender, Daniel Ramírez, has not issued any statement regarding this procedure. The Public Defense is in charge of providing legal assistance to those who do not have the resources to pay for a private lawyer, according to the Law.
The Public Ministry left the investigation open to determine who the possible accomplices of Añón Sojo would be within the justice system.
