The Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, sworn in this Monday morning the new national directors and departmental commanders of the Police in a ceremony held at the General Command facilities.
“In time to congratulate those who are ratified and those who assume new responsibilities, tell them that we are going through a time of considerable changes and challenges that we must meet, because the Bolivian people demand it,” said the authority.
There are 22 uniformed men who will occupy different divisions within the olive green, some were ratified in their functions and others assume hierarchical positions for the first time, according to the provision.
The minister reported that the stage of “reconciliation” between the Police and the population had concluded, due to the events of 2020, and now the fight against corruption is given way and deepening institutional reform, through a package of laws that will be presented to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP). Del Castillo demanded “dignity, discipline and institutionality”, emphasizing that “just because a few troops commit crimes, misdemeanors or misdemeanors, one of the most important institutions of the Bolivian people cannot be tainted, where day by day leaders appear who risk their integrity and they leave their family aside to take care of a larger family, which is called the Police and the Bolivian people”.
In his turn, the commander of the institution of order, Orlando Ponce asked the new authorities to “walk together to consolidate change and dignify our institution, accompany us with discipline, loyalty, esprit de corps, vocation and commitment.”
All the departmental commanders were changed, except in La Paz, which was ratified.
