The Government of the Capital District carried out maintenance on the Quebrada Catuche and the drainage system with the removal of debris, an action that seeks to respond to the communities’ requirements and prevent risks.
The head of Government of the Capital District, Nahum Fernández, highlighted the historical importance of the stream, which in 1999 suffered a large-scale landslide, and recalled the victims that this riverbed claimed. “You have to know that this Quebrada Catuche comes from the Guaraira Repano, reaches Quintacrespo and goes towards Parque Central,” he explained.
Fernández pointed out that the “Bolivarian task” seeks to address the 1×10 on the street, on the block, with the communal self-government room and the commune. This work day is part of the Seven Transformations, as it corresponds to the theme of “Human Cities” that requires the maintenance of services.
Likewise, the member of the 8 Raíces de Mecedores commune, Ramón Sarmiento, highlighted the speed of the response: “The rapid action of health care, technical aid and everything that we have required: they immediately gave us a response, they invited us to the program to learn about it and, furthermore, to show that the task is being carried out in the territories, in the spaces.”
Likewise, the street leader, Reinaldo Simanca, mentioned that the response system of their communities operates thanks to the organization. «Our communities have organized themselves through the self-government room, through the concrete action agenda. And this is the answer through all the work that our spokespersons do in each of the spaces,” said Simanca.
