The Public Health team of the Metropolitan region carried out a tour and operation to verify compliance with health standards in food outlets located around the National Oncology Institute (ION).
About 11 positions were inspected and sanitary irregularities were detected such as the absence of a handler’s license (green and white), inadequate handling of the products (no grease traps, cross contamination.
Health inspectors remind food handlers of the importance of carrying a valid white and green card, the corresponding health permits, compliance with hygienic measures and adequate spaces for the preparation and handling of food.
The owners of these inns were summoned to the Paraíso Health Center in Ancón to begin the process of applying for a health card (white and green).
It is important to remember that fines for violating health regulations range between 10 and 500 balboas in health centers, while, in case of recidivism, the regional headquarters can apply sanctions of up to 5,000 balboas. Depending on the severity of the violation, establishments may face temporary or permanent closure.
Jonathan Guerra, regional head of Public Health, indicated that they are guiding food handlers for their permits and obtaining a food handler card, they are reminded that it is very important to comply with the hygienic measures and preparation of the food they offer. to consumers.
During the tour there was the representative of the town of Ancón, Yamireth Batista, representatives of the Ministry of Public Works, the medical director of the Paraíso Health Center, Yarizza González, the Environmental Sanitation team and the National Directorate of Food Control and Veterinary Surveillance (DNACAVV).
The operations and verification tours of compliance with health standards are carried out by the Public Health team during the day and night with inspectors from Environmental Sanitation, DNACAVV, regional and/or local Authority as well as members of public security, all duly identified.
