In the search, 48 packages of cocaine, 31 knives of different types, and 12 telephone equipment were seized.
An extraordinary search was carried out at the Agroproductive Penitentiary Center of Barcelona (Anzoátegui), located in the Puente Ayala sector, according to military sources.
The search was carried out by officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Immediate Response Group of Custodians (Gric).
Among what was seized inside the pavilions were 48 packages of cocaine, weighing five kilos and 21 grams; 31 edged weapons of different types; 12 telephone equipment and two digital scales, according to a report from Detachment 512 of the GNB.
The Agroproductive Center was inaugurated on July 9, 2014 as a prison for people awaiting trial. It is located next to the Anzoátegui Judicial Confinement Center. The latter was evicted on October 30, 2023 through Operation Gran Cacique Guaicaipuro aimed at “fighting prison mafias,” as declared by the then Minister of the Interior, Remigio Ceballos.
