They carried out more than 300 land and 12 air rescues in El Castaño

More than 300 rescues by land and 12 air evacuations have been carried out in El Castaño, reported the Minister of Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos.

The information was disclosed by Ceballos during Tuesday’s speech with the President of the Republic, Nicholas Maduro.

“Large amounts of tons of stones, logs and mud were seen that made it difficult for people to advance in the area, people who were walking, as we met people we were supporting them, we have firefighters, and volunteers who are the second front of emergency care,” said the Minister.

Likewise, he reported that after the rapid action, 1,990 students from the aeronautical school were evacuated “due to the prompt action of the governor and mayor and the active forces present there.”

More than three thousand officials deployed

Recovery work progresses Palmarito sector in El Castaño, Maracay, Aragua state, with a contingent of at least 3,400 security, defense and rescue officials, in civic-military union, as well as with the use of heavy machinery to continue clearing the roads.

According to a message published in the account of the Ministry for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, these tasks are carried out with a total of 2,500 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), 700 from the National Risk System, 200 officials to recover public services and more than 25 heavy machinery.

Restored electrical service by 80%

Also on Tuesday, during a tour of El Castaño, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez reported that the rains continue in the sector, and that they are working to establish communication mechanisms with the community.

As for public services, he stressed that there are about 200 officials in recovery work. In this sense, he pointed out that the electrical service was restored by 80%, but it has not yet been possible to recover the water service, which was blocked by the landslide.

He added that 24 machinery and 32 dump trucks are deployed on the site to clean the road. “Here we are present and alert,” emphasized the vice president.

The information was confirmed by the Minister for Electric Energy, Néstor Reverol via twitter.

“Fulfilling instructions from Pdte. @NicolasMadurowe made a tour with the Vice President @delcyrodriguezv, in El Castaño where we started the clearance work with 24 heavy machinery and 32 dump trucks. The electrical service was also restored in 80% of the community”, said the Minister.

President calls for rain alert

This Tuesday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, made a new alert call to the national authorities so that they are prepared to attend to the people in the face of the recent rains that originate throughout the national territory.

“We are on permanent alert, all governors and governors, mayors and mayors, popular power, communal councils, street chiefs and community permanent alert,” said the Venezuelan head of state from the Presidential Command Post in Las Tejerías, Aragua state .

«Today Wave 45 is entering. Wave 44 entered yesterday through El Castaño and wave 41 entered through Las Tejerías. You have to be aware and be alert », he said.

In this sense, the Head of State alerted the inhabitants of El Castaño to the continuation of rainfall in the region.

El Castaño overflow

The recent overflow of the El Castaño river and the Palmarito creek in the Girardot municipality of Aragua state produced an avalanche that flooded houses and streets and dragged vehicles, trees and other objects.

Until now, three deaths and heavy material and service losses have been recorded.

«My condolences and my prayers for the eternal rest of their souls. My condolences to his family and neighbors. The images were terrifying,” said the Head of State on Tuesday.

This town of El Castaño is located 50 minutes from Las Tejerías, where recovery and rescue work is being carried out after the landslide that occurred on Saturday, October 8, which left more than 50 dead and more than 50 missing.
