A Nicaraguan citizen was arrested on Thursday night, October 13, by the Costa Rican Police, who captured him inside an ATM where the subject was withdrawing more than 390,000 cordobas through various cards that had been cloned.

The citizen with the last name Bustos was surprised by the agents carrying hundreds of colones in bills, he was immediately arrested to continue his judicial process. In total, he had withdrawn 6,998,000 colones, equivalent to 397,000 Nicaraguan córdobas or 11,000 US dollars, money that he stole from 10 cloned cards that he had.
On October 12, the Police of the neighboring country to the south also captured another Nicaraguan with the surnames Aráuz Cabalzeta, 46, for the crime of “money laundering” by illegally transporting $9,940.
According to the official statement from the authorities, the operation was made possible by the Border Police of the Public Force of the Ministry of Public Security at the irregular point in Tablillas, Los Chiles, on the border with Nicaragua.

The officers retained the vehicle that Arauz was driving when he entered the Costa Rican country. The Nicaraguan, with a Costa Rican residence card, was arrested and presented before the Public Ministry. The police noted that the defendant does not have a criminal record.
