Cotuí.- Agents from the Criminal Investigation Department (Dicrim) arrested Johan Mejía Castro, accused of murdering his wife and mother-in-law in the Buenos Aires sector of the municipal district of Quitasueño.
Mejía Castro faces charges for the deaths of his partner, Yulissa Germán Suárez, and his mother-in-law, Juana Suárez.
The incident occurred around 11:00 pm last Monday, in a modest home in the Buenos Aires sector, in the agricultural town of Quitasueño, Cotuí.
According to the preliminary report, Mejía Castro used a firearm to shoot Juana Suárez in the head and, subsequently, shot Yulissa Germán Suárez twice, hitting her in the head and chest. Yulissa was rushed to the Inmaculada Concepción public hospital, where she died at noon on Tuesday.

After committing the double homicide, Mejía Castro fled the scene, immediately beginning a police search. Finally, he was located on an agricultural property in the community of El Limón, southwest of Cotuí. Exhausted and hungry, Mejía Castro turned himself in to the authorities on Wednesday around eight p.m.
Until now, the criminal investigation agents They have not been able to recover the weapon used in the crime. During the early hours of the morning, Mejía Castro remained detained in a cell in the preventive prison of the Cotuí police station. It is expected that in the next few hours coercive measures will be imposed on him at the Courthouse of the Judicial District of Sánchez Ramírez.
The tragedy leaves three children, children of the couple, orphaned, who will now need psychological support to face the loss of their mother and the possible long sentence of their father.
