The Army of the Dominican Republic (ERD) detained and handed over the National Police to the Haitian Wilson Gabriel, accused of being responsible for an incident that occurred on November 17 at the Darío Contreras Hospital, during which doctors were attacked.
Gabriel was apprehended along with a group of 16 undocumented immigrants in a wooded area near the Carrizal stream, when they were trying to enter Dominican territory. During the operation, the citizen showed suspicious behavior by getting mud on his face and head. in an attempt to camouflage and evade the military.
Additionally, officers noticed that Gabriel was wearing a bandage on the thumb of his left hand.
When questioned, the Haitian claimed to have been injured with a machete while working on a lot in Santo Domingo Este and assured that he went to the Darío Contreras Hospital to receive medical attention.
The military identified Gabriel as the man wanted by the Police after an altercation at the health center, in which, together with his partner, he attacked the medical staff. The incident was captured on video, which made it easier to recognize.

After his arrest, Gabriel was taken to the Rosa Duarte provincial hospital to receive medical attention for his wound before being handed over to the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM), which will take over the case for the corresponding legal procedures.
Meanwhile, the rest of the detained Haitian nationals, in an irregular immigration situation, were transferred to the La Estrelleta Fortress, in Elías Piña, where they will be handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for repatriation processes.
