They capture 9 people who deceived Colombian women to exploit them in Europe

This network convinced women to travel to countries such as Malta, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania.

The authorities indicated that nine people were captured and prosecuted for the alleged capture of women in vulnerable conditions to be exploited in Europe.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, in investigative activities carried out in coordination with Europol and other European authorities, they revealed the way in which this network operated, which convinced women to travel to countries like Malta, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania to exploit them sexually.

According to the report, The victims received help to process the documents to leave the country, They provided them with air tickets and money to cover travel expenses.

Subsequently, when they arrived at their destination, the indicated members of the illegal organization snatched their passports, forced them to moving to different cities to engage in sexual activities and thus pay the resources that were provided to them, guarantee them food and lodging, and comply with fines that amounted to 3,000 and 4,000 euros.

In this same report, the Prosecutor’s Office states that the women reported having been subjected to physical and psychological abuse, in addition to being held incommunicado and threatened so that they would not report what happened.

The captured people are Lukas Giraldo Betancur, Óscar Arbey Ospina Ocampo, Mario Augusto Giraldo HernándezNatalia Jaramillo Holguín, María Camila Correa Muñoz, María Paulina Restrepo Benítez, Diana Jaidivy Hernández Álvarez, Michell Dahiana Gaviria Ramírez and Grecia Alejandra Duarte Guzmán.

It was known that Giraldo Betancur would be the leader of the network and the person in charge of financing the obtaining of passports, visas, tickets and hotels for the victims.

Additionally, the Prosecutor’s Office attributes him to taking advantage of his dual nationality and residence in Europe to send letters of invitation to women and facilitate their entry to Malta and Croatia.

On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that Natalia Jaramillo Holguín is accused of using a trips in Pereira (Risaralda) to provide tickets to the victims. The others involved would have fulfilled other roles related to the contact of the young women, logistics and other requirements to expedite the trips.

A guarantee control judge charged them with the crimes of conspiracy, human trafficking; and manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
