They call for regional and global actions at the seventy-fifth session of the WHO

During the first session of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland, the Deputy Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, highlighted that the theme of the meeting “Health for peace, peace for health” invites us to continue in the search for a peaceful and healthy planet, in which technologies and innovation must be used to the maximum to reinforce the capacity to respond to the great current challenges such as the epidemiological and demographic transition, emergencies and catastrophes.

On behalf of the Panamanian State, Berrío pointed out as actions consistent with the commitment to develop a social policy to reduce poverty, the strategy called Plan Colmena, in which the National Government seeks to strengthen aid to the most needy regions in a participatory and decentralized manner. of Panama, through comprehensive solutions directed throughout the national territory.

He also stressed that health is a right and not a privilege for a few and that this is the objective in which the public policy of the National Government advances.

He reiterated Panama’s commitment to benefiting 777,000 citizens trapped in poverty, so that they have an adequate level of well-being such as access to drinking water, good nutrition, optimal growth and development, aid for people with disabilities, attention to chronic diseases, among others.

At the same time, he invited the other members to maintain and promote regional and global initiatives in order to guarantee the right to health and sustainable development.
