According to the Comptroller’s Office, the study carried out by Go Cadastral has more than three million inconsistencies.
The lawyer and activist Héctor Pérez Fernández has called on the citizens of Cartagena to a demonstration in the Plaza de la Aduana to protest against the excessive increases in property taxes.
Pérez explained that about 81.47% of the appraisals present inconsistencies and that many updates were carried out virtually, without physical visits to the properties, especially in rural areas.
These statements are based on a detailed report delivered by the District Comptroller’s Office, which shows that, in addition to this high percentage of irregularities, The study done by Go Cadastral has more than three million inconsistencies. Let us remember that this study was carried out over a period of approximately two years.
According to the lawyer, many citizens have been forced to pay exorbitant sums, even tens of millions of pesos, which represents an unsustainable economic burden for many families.

Due to the above, Héctor Pérez called on citizens to join the demonstration against the indiscriminate increase of the aforementioned tax.
“We invite the entire community of Cartagena because we are all affected by the illegal fraudulent update of the new cadastral appraisal that declared the property values. We invite you to the big sit-in this Thursday, January 16 at 10:00 in the morning in the Plaza de la Aduana“, indicated Pérez.
On the other hand, although the mayor of Cartagena, Dumek Turbay, recently stated that they will be analyzing the cases individually. Pérez assured that they will be filing a collective complaint.
“We want all people to carry the property receipt and if they do not have it or have not been able to download it from the page, they can include the cadastral reference number. That’s for us to attach ourselves to a complaint, to a complaint that we have already prepared and so that all the cases are reviewed and this update made by the Go Catrastal of Bogotá is annulled,” he assured.
