This Wednesday, hours after the Attorney General’s Office announced the suspension of Daniel Quintero, a sit-in will be held in Medellín to protest the decision.
(Daniel Quintero is suspended from the position of mayor of Medellín).
The mobilization seeks to support the local president, who was sanctioned for his alleged participation in politics, in favor of Gustavo Petro’s campaign.
Quintero himself called the sit-in through his social networks, which will take place at 5:00 pm in La Alpujarra.
“I summon all the citizens of Medellín, at 5 in the afternoon, in the Plazoleta de La Alpujarra, to defend democracy and the popular will. The prosecutor has violated our political rights,” said the mayor, who has described the decision as a coup.

The candidate Gustavo Petro supports the invitation, who said that this sit-in is a way of defending democracy.
“Those who today feel sympathy for my candidacy must prioritize popular mobilization to enforce the popular vote in Medellín”wrote the leader of the Historical Pact and added that this May 11 at five in the afternoon, in La Alpujarra, the people of Medellín have the opportunity to mobilize to defend democracy.
