They broadcast Alex Saab’s speech after recording it in a call from where he is imprisoned

Alex Saab, a Colombian businessman detained in the US for alleged money laundering, sent a six-minute audio in which he requests dialogue so that he can be released from prison and that forgetfulness is “deadly” for a political prisoner

This Wednesday, June 14, an event called “The Lawfare against Venezuela: Three years after the kidnapping of diplomat Alex Saab” was held; an initiative of the administration of Nicolás Maduro to commemorate the three years since the arrest of the businessman of Colombian origin on the island of Sal in Cape Verde and to demand his release from the US prison where he is currently being held.

There were present Venezuelan authorities such as the foreign minister, Yván Gil; as well as around 40 international guests. Opening the event, the Foreign Minister said that Saab was detained “while carrying out a humanitarian operation to obtain and supply Venezuela, not only with food, but with technologies and products for the oil industry by mandate of the Bolivarian Government.”

“Right now it is shameful how they have handled this case. However, in Venezuela we speak of the truth, no struggle for independence is destined to fail, some will take longer, but we are convinced that there is not a single element that allows us to justify the kidnapping or follow a trial of someone who is innocent. What is behind the case of Alex Saab is an imperial pride. We are sure that he will return safe and sound, defeating all the imperial pretensions to twist the peoples with the mechanisms of commerce. We have already had several victories along the way, Venezuela being on its feet is a fundamental victory, with the oil and agricultural industry taking off.”

During the presentations, an audio by Alex Saab was presented, the second since the February 1 the Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, will show that recording in which the Barranquillero declared himself a political prisoner.

On this occasion, the audio was approximately six minutes in which Saab makes a kind of political statement and takes the opportunity to insist that through dialogue and diplomacy they are the tools to achieve freedom and that of other political prisoners.

In addition, he claimed to have the support of the Maduro administration – which considers him a “special envoy” with the rank of ambassador – and that “he does not abandon him.” However, he asked that the political prisoners not be forgotten.

this past April 18th 18 months have passed since the extradition of Alex Saab to the United States (USA) and the Venezuelan government denounced through a statement published in the Foreign Ministry that the health of this businessman has deteriorated “as a result of his conditions of arbitrary detention” ; so they demand his release.

At that time it was said that the Free Alex Saab Movement intensified the complaints about the alleged violation of the Colombian businessman’s human rights, recalling that he suffered from stomach cancer and has diabetes. They condemned that during his detention in the United States he was prevented from “consular and family visits” and accused that he is subjected to extreme cold, that he does not have medical attention and that his diet is deficient.

The businessman’s extradition to the US was the reason for the Executive to kick the negotiating table that was taking place in Mexico. They are currently demanding his release as one of the conditions they set to sit down and talk again.
