An internal struggle in the Central Organization of Guarayo Native Peoples (Copnag) keeps the route to Beni blocked. The blockade point remains in Ascensión de Guarayos, by a sector led by Cirila Tapendaba.
This Thursday, the route was expedited for a few hours after a confrontation that took place in the early hours of the morning.
A group of about 200 people, belonging to the parallel Copnag, whose president is Julio Sierra, proceeded to unblock the highway. DEtonating firecrackers they managed to make the blockers escape from the place.
However, averaging 10:00 this Thursday, Tapendaba’s supporters gathered strength and proceeded to retake the blockade pointalthough a group from the Copnag de Sierra remained in place carrying out a vigil to prevent the measure from being reinstated.
Tapendaba denounced that during the confrontation between the sides they suffered injuries some elders and founders of Copnag They were at the blocking point, so they decided not to put up any resistance and put themselves in a safe place. For his part, Sierra assured that there was no violence.
The blockade of the route began last Monday by the Tapendaba Copnag demanding the annulment of a resolution issued by the ABTin which it manifests coordination with the parallel Copnag headed by Julio Sierra.
The motorized could only circulate normally on the road for a few hours, since in the middle of the morning the Copnag of Tapendaba again obstructed the passage as a measure of protest against the ABT.
