The Evaluation Commission of the Social Security Fund (CSS) awarded 56 lines of the 129 medicines declared in critical shortage, which were within the online quotes published in Panama Compra, in which 39 companies participated.
Ana Patricia Cuestas, National Director of Purchases of the CSS, reported that in both online quotes, 36 lines were declared void due to not receiving proposals, however, she stressed that at the moment 56 have been awarded.
“This is good news because these are drugs that have been classified as difficult to acquire. Indeed, we have a technical staff working on these drugs,” said Cuestas.
He stated that for non-awarded products, possible factories or international suppliers that could offer them are being investigated.
“Immediately the final report of this evaluation is available, it will be published on the Panamacompra portal, and from that moment, the delivery times of the products begin to be counted and in parallel the process for the formalization of the orders will begin. of purchase”, emphasized the National Director of Purchases of the CSS.
It is estimated that 15 days after the purchase is awarded, the companies must deliver the medicines. The entire process must be approved and endorsed by the Comptroller General of the Republic.
The general director of the CSS, Enrique Lau Cortes, declared, through the entity’s Twitter account, that the online quotes are due to compliance with Executive Decree 36 of 2022, which declares 130 medicines in critical shortage.
Lau Cortes explained that of the 130 medications, only 129 are being considered, because they had to put one on “pause”, since international scientific reports warn of a series of adverse problems. Below is the list of medications.
