More than 8,000 procedures between orientations and complaints were managed by the Ombudsman at the national level, during the year 2022, according to a report by the entity’s Planning and Statistics Department.
Among the procedures with the greatest demand at the Ombudsman’s Office, the following stand out: orientations with a total of 4,914; followed by 1,641 complaints and 896 procedures; while the remaining 835 procedures correspond to petitions, applications, consultations, official letters and mediations.
The report highlights that among the rights that were allegedly most violated in 2022 were

Among the institutions that allegedly most affected rights are: the houses of justice
Community for Peace, Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) and the General Directorate of the System
Penitentiary.
The provinces where more procedures were carried out were Panama with 2,980; Veraguas with 1,176 and Penonomé with 889; Among the months with the highest demand were June, August and October.
Of the total procedures carried out, 48% were managed by women, 43% by men and 8% are collective; The most attended age ranges were in first place people from 50 to 69 years old in 26%, from 30 to 49 years old by 29%.
