The vice president of the Republic, Raquel Penamade this Tuesday a called from Santiago to the whole society Dominican to reinforce the respect towards women and to work together to reduce the femicides and cases of abuse.
Peña expressed that the date, Day of Non Violence against Women, must serve to send a message of respectremembering the legacy of the Mirabal sisterswhose fight for democracy and freedom marked the history of the country.
“We have to continue emulating the example of the Mirabal sisters and see each of us in that fight so that every day there are fewer femicides and abuses against women around the world, especially against Dominican women,” she stated.
The vice president maintained that combat violence it is not responsibility exclusively of the Government, but of all sectors of the population.
“It’s the whole country, the whole society that must raise the same voice. Each one of us has to do our bit: raise awarenesseducate males and females so that there really is respect for human life,” he added.
Peña also highlighted the importance of strengthening family values and faith as axes of coexistence.
“The family It must be the entity from which the best men and women that promote the development of the Dominican Republic,” he noted.
Advances in judges evaluation
The vice president also offered statements about the evaluation process of judges by the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM).
He explained that this Tuesday afternoon there will be a technical meeting of the organization to continue with the analysis of the results obtained in the public hearings.
Peña reported that the meeting will be led by President Luis Abinader–
“The work continues and the day on which those selected will be sworn in will be announced soon,” he indicated.
The vice president reiterated the government commitment with the institutional strengthening and with the guarantee of a independent justice and transparent.
Raquel Pena spoke about both topics prior to his participation in the act of putting into circulation the Portrait of Woman book by Inicia, during an event held at the theater of the Pontifical Catholic Mother and Teacher University (Pucmm), Santiago campus.
