The coordinator of the movement of activists, Antonio Urena made the request to the president Abinader considering that the public worker, in a reduction in working hours, can start their own business or look for a secondary job and thus positively favor the economic dynamics of their families.

“Regarding the causes that promote the working day in two batches, it could be said that they are prosecuted more than anything to encourage, promote and empower entrepreneurs who work in the Government, but for reasons of compulsory working hours, they cannot develop their businesses and for this, public policies from the State are needed, oriented towards entrepreneurship”, he said.
And he added: A single job is evidently insufficient to be able to generate well-being in an average Dominican household, made up in extreme cases of single mothers in a situation of vulnerability, people with physical disabilities, the elderly and children with special needs, a situation that forces them to seek other sources of income to cover basic needs and guarantee a better quality of life for their dependents”, commented the activist.
He indicated that the proposal to divide the working day in the Government into two batches of six hours a day also seeks to provide formulas to increase productivity levels, generate employment opportunities, greater well-being and a better balance between work and life. personnel of the more than 599,000 public workers, from a comprehensive perspective.
On the other hand, Ureña argued that the proposal would benefit state workers with chronic health conditions, to schedule their medical appointments on time and plan their care to reduce risk factors. It would also encourage more people to obtain additional educational qualifications, it would drastically reduce the cases of work absenteeism, it would promote a culture of responsible upbringing in homes, the approach and prominence of parents in the processes of education and training in values of their children.
