Santo Domingo.- The judge of the Constitutional Court (TC), José Alejandro Vargas, urged the students and the population in general to read the Constitution so that they approach the constitutional culture, complying with their fundamental rights and duties.
The magistrate explained that the essential content of article 63, number 13, of the Substantive Charter of the nation that enshrines the purposes of the State when it states that “In order to train citizens aware of their rights and duties, in all institutions of public and private education, instruction in social and civic education, the teaching of the Constitution, fundamental rights and guarantees, national values and the principles of peaceful coexistence will be mandatory.
He argued that the Dominican Constitution is based on respect for human dignity, and in that sense places the human being as the primary purpose of existence, so that the constitutional priority should be aimed at bringing happiness to women and men.
Judge Vargas spoke in these terms during a meeting with elementary and high school students from the Ozama Adventist College, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, where he gave them a talk on “The importance of the Constitution, Fundamental Rights, and the Functioning of the Constitutional Court”.
Finally, he highlighted the inescapable commitment of the Constitutional Court, which by mandate is called upon to promote studies and knowledge of constitutional law and sow constitutional culture in each citizen, because only in this way will we have a country of fair balance for the happiness that arises from good living.
At the end of the meeting with the students of the primary and secondary levels of the Ozama Adventist College, in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, they interacted with Magistrate José Alejandro Vargas, Judge of the Constitutional Court, who was asked several questions about the Constitution and He responded to their concerns on the subject.
