The Ministry of Health recommends that the population be aware of the appearance of cold or flu symptoms, especially now that the rainy season has begun in the country.

The regional health director of San Miguelito, Dr. Yaritzel Ríos, recognized that this is the time when flu and cold symptoms increase, mainly in children. She explained that it is a virus that can be easily transmitted and that after returning to school there is room for greater contact with other children, although she clarified that the use of a mask in closed spaces can help to counteract contagion.

“There has been an increase at this time and it is normal, it is expected. The symptoms are nasal congestion, general malaise, headache and fever, which can affect children and also the elderly”, pointed out Dr. Yaritzel Ríos.

The head of the San Miguelito Health Region said that the country continues to register cases of Covid-19 and that the population should not trust that it is the flu or a cold, that is why she asked all people to present symptoms such as general malaise or nasal congestion who are not confident and who go to the health facilities so that a suitable doctor can carry out the corresponding evaluation and decide if it is necessary to do a swab and rule out that it is a coronavirus.

Ríos pointed out that when a child or adult presents symptoms, they should stay at home so as not to get wet in the rain and follow the recommendations of their treating doctor.
