“There are four years that, during the holidays, victims, relatives of the victims and exiles are separated from their families, their loved ones and their communities. One more year of struggle seeking to stop and collect crimes against humanity that are practiced from State terrorism in a situation of resistance to impunity in Nicaragua. A year that should be the last, and that calls on the international community and the world to remember the daily impact of the authoritarian regime whose methods became more sophisticated by acting through fear, seeking the silence of Nicaraguans. , whether they are on their land or outside it,” the organization says.

The Coalition made up of 17 human rights organizations requests the international community to show solidarity with the situation in Nicaragua and continue demanding respect for human rights.

In the Central American country there are more than 230 people deprived of liberty for political reasons, 10 of these were imprisoned before the social protests of 2018, according to the Mechanism for the Recognition of Political Prisoners of Nicaragua.
