As the date for their disqualification as auditors approaches, a group of lawyers yesterday denounced the alleged harassment that they are subject to by the prosecutors in charge of the different demarcations of the country, and they asked for the intervention of the President of the Republic in his case.
They said that until yesterday they had remained silent, assuming an attitude of conciliation “for the sake of preserving the institutionality of the independent Public Ministry”, as the wishes of the president have been. Louis Abinaderwho until now has kept his word of non-interference in matters that have to do with that institutional body.
However, they added that on this occasion they asked the head of state to make an exception and go to their aid before the Attorney General’s Office.
Until today we had remained totally silent, assuming an attitude of conciliation in a role of preserving the institutionality of the Public Ministry “Independent” as have been the wishes of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader Corona, who up to now has kept his word and has not interfered in any way in matters that have to do with with this constitutional body.

On this occasion we want to make a call for help to the first president of the State so that on this occasion he makes an exception so that the Attorney General’s Office or “Independent Public Ministry” do not violate and mistreat your own members.
The disqualification of the group of more than 130 lawyers who work as auditors but who are not career lawyers, was ordered by Resolution of the Superior Council of the Public Ministry, and will be effective on July 31.

In its first session this year, the Superior Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office clarified that the lawyers in office of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and who constitute institutional support, “remain temporarily authorized to continue performing MP functions for a period of up to 6 months.”
