Passersby asked for the construction of a bridge over the Macabón River that connects the communities of Santa María in the province of Monte Cristi and Palo Blanco in the province of Dajabón.
The bridge collapsed more than 20 years ago and on several occasions it has been visited by government officials from the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) but so far they have done nothing, so they are calling on President Luis Abinader.
Mr. Ángel Medina, who was passing through the area, said that the situation is sad, that when it rains and the river floods there is no traffic, thus leaving the communities cut off.
Passerby Ezequiel Sosa said that the workers who pass through the place when it rains the river drops and it is impossible for them to cross so they have had to travel through another area further away to get to their homes.
“I had to go through Gozuela because the flood is very big and to avoid a misfortune we better avoid crossing the tributary” Sosa said.
According to information, two years ago, on instructions from President Luis Abinader, the director of the General Directorate of Border Development Ramón Pérez Tejada, carried out the professional technical studies for the construction of the bridge over the Macabón River, but until now the passers-by are waiting. .
