They ask for help for a 14-year-old girl with kidney disorder

A 14-year-old girl was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome (kidney disorder), which causes fluid retention and swelling throughout your abdomen and other parts of your body, including your face.

The swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in the body tissues began to show in December last year, so her relatives were concerned, and decided to take her to the Robert Reid Cabral Hospital, where he has been given assistance ever since.

This Saturday the concern of his relatives grew. In recent days the minor has presented major health complaints; she does not urinate and her body continues to fill with fluid, so she was given a biopsy kidney urgently.

“The biopsy costs a lot of money and it is a family that lives in extreme poverty, that is why we ask for help from the Government or whoever wants to provide it so that the girl can be treated as soon as possible,” said Diomedes Capellán, a neighbor of the family.

Chaplain indicated that between the biopsy and the medicines that they indicate to the girl should seek more than RD$30,000 pesos, for which she asks the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, for help.

The girl, whose identity is being withheld for security reasons, lives with her mother and grandparents in the sector The Guayuyosentering from the La Victoria highway in the municipality of Santo Domingo Norte.

His mother is dedicated to planting coconut trees and doing cleaning services in some houses in the sector to be able to bring food and cover some basic necessities.

Despite being a very old person, the girl’s grandmother walks “up and down the hill” looking for some waste that is not in such bad condition to be able to sell it and obtain, even if it is five pesos.

there is nothing to eat

According to her neighbors, the teenager’s relatives have absolutely no resources and sometimes they can’t even eat, or what they get they can only use to eat once a day.

The neighbors have had to reach out to them because of the condition of “extreme poverty” in which they find themselves and even more so because of the girl’s health.

Both the mother, the grandparents and the minor sleep in a bed and on a mattress that they place on the floor, the refrigerator does not work. Their house is made of zinc sheeting, with large holes that allow sunlight to enter, and when it rains the house is filled with water, damaging what little they have in their residence.
