They ask for greater security of the Huancavelica Food Market

On July 8 of this year, merchants from various stalls of the Huancavelica Food Market were victims of crime.

This is because three subjects, including a teenager, stayed inside the market overnight and took advantage of the poor security of the establishment to steal 16,000 soles.

Regarding this case, both the head of the Huancavelica Police Region, Colonel Eloy Lara Bendezú, as well as several merchants and buyers, urged the Provincial Municipality of Huancavelica (MPH) to strengthen market security.

A SINGLE WATCHMAN IN THE SUPPLY MARKET

As a result of the criminal act, Colonel Lara held a press conference in order to report on the police work in relation to the aggravated robbery.

It is during the round of questions that the police chief reported that the market only has one guard and no video surveillance cameras inside the establishment.

“For the investigations, the images of the video surveillance cameras have been collected, however, the cameras failed to capture the perpetrators of the crime. Likewise, the support of the school was essential to obtain better results of the investigation, since one of those who participated in the theft was a student who arrived at the educational institution with signs of drunkenness and with a large amount of money among his belongings. ”, explained the colonel.

He added: “It has been seen that the Huancavelica Food Market has little security because only one person takes care of the market. Also, the market does not have video surveillance cameras, so it is necessary for the municipality to take steps for greater security of the establishment and thus prevent the criminal act from being repeated later.

In the same way, merchants who were affected by the aggravated robbery urged the municipality for greater security.

“They took the money we had saved. There is only one watchman who watches day and night. The municipality must implement greater security in the market, because it could happen to any of the stalls later if the municipality does not take action on the matter. No more robberies, no thefts”, said Juan Quispe (77).

“We are more than 10 merchants who were affected by theft at our stalls. I ask the municipality to put more security, increase surveillance personnel, install cameras inside the market. These criminal acts should no longer be repeated”, expressed Edelmira Carhuapoma (66).

Similarly, buyers sympathized and expressed their support for the request for greater security requested by merchants.

“If there is greater security, there will be no more criminal acts. The Provincial Municipality of Huancavelica must ensure that these events are not repeated. The mayor, the officials, must commit to security in the market”, said Carmen Flores (37).

“Surveillance cameras should be installed. They are tools that allow greater security in the market. It is unfortunate what has happened to the merchants who were affected by the theft of their products or money,” said Ricardo Paytán (45).

“The market needs more security. Local and regional authorities should take into account the request of the population. Greater security is what must be guaranteed. We hope that steps will be taken to ensure greater security in the market”, stated Carlos Huamaní (33).
