A new controversy shakes the Congress of the Republic. The Popular Renewal Parliamentary Group, through its director and spokesperson, formally requested the urgent convening of an extraordinary Plenary Session so that the President of the Republic, José Jeri, explain alleged irregular meetings held with a private businessman.
According to the document sent, the request arises after learning, through various media outlets, that the head of Parliament had met repeatedly with a businessman on December 26, 2025 and January 6 of this year, in circumstances that — according to the bench — would violate the protocols and schedules of the high public office he exercises.
For Renovación Popular, these events would constitute alleged acts of functional misconduct that must be urgently evaluated by the Plenary of Congress, as it is the highest authority of the Legislative Branch.
The bench considers that the seriousness of the revelations deserves a direct and public explanation before the national representation.
In this sense, the parliamentary group requested that Jeri Oré appear before the Plenary Session to detail the circumstances of said meetings and clarify whether there was any type of irregularity or conflict of interest in the exercise of his functions as president of the Congress of the Republic.
The statement closes by pointing out that, after hearing the corresponding defenses, the Plenary Session of Congress will be in charge of evaluating the facts and adopting the corresponding decisions in accordance with the constitutional and regulatory framework.
