They ask for an extension of the deadline to protect water bottles from the sun

Pro Consumidor warns against water bottles in the sun

The Association of Industries of Water Purifiers of the Cibao Region (Aparc) requested this Friday an extension of the deadline established for the established closure of the water exhibitors. water bottles exposed to the sun, which expires on the 30th of this month.

Through a statement placed in newspapers of national circulation and addressed to the National Institute of Protection of the rights of Consumer (Proconsumer), Aparc stated that this additional time will be crucial to achieve an optimal result.

It also requested that at the end of the period it is requesting, an exhaustive survey of progress be made and the impact of this transition on its operations be carefully analyzed.

  • Proconsumer announced in July of this year that “it will take drastic measures against businesses that expose their water bottles that they sell to the public”, given the damage it causes to people’s health.

The Association of Industries of Water Purifiers of the Cibao Region explained that it requests the deadline due to “the length of the process and the enormous cost it means for the bottling companies”, since they are “in the middle of a battle against irregular trade and abuses of position dominant company in our sector”

In addition, he expressed that the entity is committed to ensuring that this process is done in the most efficient and responsible way possible.

In an interview with Free Diary, Eddy Alcántara, director of Proconsumerexplained that several merchant associations have requested an extension of the deadline, due to conflicts with municipal authorities. Apparently, some businesses have faced problems when trying to cover bottle displays with advertising for certain brands or the establishment itself.

Pro Consumer has not yet decided whether it will grant an extension, as surveys are currently being carried out to verify whether the coatings agreed with the water bottling associations comply with the regulations.

Dominican Republic’s leading newspaper focused on general news and innovative journalism.
