Tarek William Saab, attorney general of the government of Nicolás Maduro, announced the arrest of a woman who was offering a kidney in the Facebook Marketplace virtual store.
On his Twitter account, the head of the Public Ministry shared the details of the arrest.
He indicated that the detainee was identified as Marielys del Carmen Yedra. The woman was offering a kidney in exchange for $20,000. This was confirmed by Saab.
The detainee was charged with the crime of donation for profit.

The attorney general explained that the capture was achieved after determining the location of one of the people who made these types of offers on the platform. In addition to this, they verified the content of the publication made on their phone.
“The Public Ministry is investigating whether it is a criminal network,” he added.
Kidney sale on Marketplace: new business?
This week a complaint by the rescuer went viral on social networks delmiro neighborhoodwho posted Marketplace posts on his Twitter account selling kidneys for high dollar amounts.
“According to what they tell me by DM (direct message), there are a lot of ads where they offer kidneys on this page. One of the posts even reads ’15-year-old girl’s kidney in perfect condition’,” she wrote.
