The Cicpc arrested a man in his sixties who is allegedly the intellectual author of several homicides. The detainee is identified as Octavio José Mujica Díaz, 62 years old, captured in Guanare, Portuguesa.
One of the last homicides planned by Mujica Díaz is that of Luis Alberto Ochoa Pérez (35), which occurred in the El Chaparral sector of the aforementioned Portuguese city last March. Luis Alberto’s body had “multiple physical injuries,” according to the Cicpc report.
In this and the other homicides, former Portuguesa state police officials participated as perpetrators, among them Luis Enrique Barrios Castellano (43), Nelson Gabriel Pérez González (34), Nelson José Caña Rondón (36) and two men with the surnames Vargas. and Lucena, who are fugitives.
At the time of his arrest, Mujica Díaz was seized with a 9mm caliber Glock pistol, used in a double homicide. He also seized a semi-automatic pistol, 22 ammunition and three cartridges.
The sixty-year-old was handed over to the 1st Prosecutor’s Office of the Portuguesa State Public Ministry where a criminal proceeding was initiated.
