Madrid/Daniel Morejón García, who appears on the list of repressors of the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FDHC), is arrested by the United States Immigration and Customs Control Service, about to be deported. According to a statement from ICE himself, issued this Mondaythe Cuban was arrested “administratively” at his home, in Miami, after accrediting that he had lied upon entering the country.
“The agents of the order obtained official documents from the Cuban government and information from reliable sources that indicated that Morejón García had not revealed their affiliations,” that is: he had omitted to be a member of the Communist Party of Cuba and agent of the Interior Ministry of Cuba in his immigration requests.
There are evidence, the text says, that Morejón García, 57, assaulted protesters during the massive protests of July 11, 2021 (11J) “as part of their functions.” The former agent was president of the National Defense Council in the province of Artemis and a member of the rapid response brigades, indicates the text, which explains that these are “composed of civilians trained and organized by the Government” and “designed to assist the authorities during incidents of social agitation, protests or disturbances”.
The Foundation reported that the former agent was living at his daughter’s house, Dhayma Morejón, in Miami
This information agrees with the one that appears on the FDHC page, which points out that, as seen in a video, during the manifestation that took place on the 11J in Las Cañas, Artemisa, got off his motorcycle and assaulted Armando Martínez Luis. This political prisoner, who suffers from hypertension and paranoid schizophrenia, was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Two other detainees in the same place, Rolando González Arévalo and Richael Cantún Morales, at 6 and 7 years, respectively. The three comply with prison sentence in the Guanajay prison (where the artist and leader of the San Isidro Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara movement is also located.
Based on an anonymous complaint, the Foundation reported that the former agent, who was also director of the Figure Factory of Las Cañas, was living at his daughter’s house, Dhayma Morejón, in Miami. Another complainant, indicates the file, said he was a state security agent that “is armed” and that he was administrator of universal warehouses, a dependence on the Gaesa military conglomerate.
The former official also appears on the list that the Cuban American congressman Carlos Giménez He sent last month to the Department of Internal Security (DHS), with more than a hundred people who, the Republican politician alleged, “previously supported the brutal policies of the Castro dictatorship have taken advantage of US immigration laws to enter our country.”
Morejón García is in the Krome detention center, in Miami-Dade, and is waiting for their deportation, says ICE, which asks everyone “who has information about alleged human rights rapists who travel or enter the United States” to denounce this situation, something they can do anonymously.
