A Cicpc official was arrested for his alleged participation in the kidnapping of a 74-year-old man, the scientific police reported.
The detainee is identified as Rusbert Fabián Montañez Avilán, material and intellectual author of the kidnapping of Ricardo García (74) who was held against his will from January 31 until last Monday when he was rescued, according to an announcement made by the director of the Cicpc, commissioner Douglas Rico from Fila de Mariches, Sucre municipality (Miranda).
García was kidnapped when he arrived at his residence in the aforementioned sector, by four men dressed in black and with balaclavas.
The Cicpc Kidnapping Division began investigations and detected that a criminal group called Los Efectivos de Mariche was behind the kidnapping.
The detained police agent belonged to that criminal organization; as well as José Daniel Echenique Pacheco, a former Cicpc official, who was the caretaker; Juan Deivis Castro Rojas, coach and two men yet to be identified, nicknamed El Ruso and Leo.
During the operation to arrest the group, Castro Carlos (El Titi) was killed.
Commissioner Rico said that the arrest of Montañez Avilán is part of a purification process “against those who try to harm the good conduct of the scientific police to dedicate themselves to committing crimes.”
