Mexican authorities reported this Friday the arrest of three coyotes transporting 30 migrants in vans, 28 of them from Cuba and two from Sri Lanka. The vehicles were detected in the metropolitan area of Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo León.
The migrants, who were traveling crammed into vans, were detained in the parking lot of a shopping center in the municipality of Escobedo, Nuevo León, a state that borders Texas. The three chickens, who would be involved in their transfer, were detained by agents of the municipal Citizen Security Secretariat.
Around midnight, the policemen carried out surveillance tasks in the sector and observed two white vans with the legend “Paquetería Express Pablisa” with license plates from the state of Coahuila and Mexico City, in addition to a rental vehicle. with Nuevo Leon license plate.

The uniformed officers approached the migrants and told them that the group included Cubans, and a man and his daughter from Sri Lanka, who were made available to the corresponding authorities. Among the undocumented are 16 women, 11 men, and three girls from 5 to 7 years old, respectively.
The fact reflects the record migratory flow to the United States, whose Customs and Border Protection Office has intercepted more than 1.82 million people so far in fiscal year 2022, which began last October.
In Mexico, the Government has deployed almost 30,000 members of the Armed Forces on the northern and southern borders, where in the last three months they have intercepted 124,300 migrants, 115% more than the same previous period, according to what the Secretariat reported on Tuesday. of the National Defense.
This Friday the National Migration Institute reported the arrest of 180 migrants, including 102 Cubanswho were in a hotel located on Boulevard Xocanatepec, Villa Guadalupe, in the state of Puebla.
The detainees were transferred to the Puebla immigration station, an establishment that is overwhelmed by the number of detainees. The authorities detained 688 migrants a week ago and, on August 22, eight Cubans who were in a house from the town of Acajete, along with another 15 from Bangladesh.
The state of Puebla is considered by traffickers as a bridge for migrants to cross, since from this point they can define the route to reach the US through Coahuila, Nuevo León or Tamaulipas.
