The Public Ministry, with the support of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), arrested Jorge Ernesto Hernández Fernández, known as ‘El español’, linked to the former president on Tuesday, March 7. Pedro Castillo and investigated for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and corruption of officials.

“The Spaniard” was arrested at his home in La Molina and the Prosecutor’s Office gave details of the operation that was carried out simultaneously in 6 districts of Lima.
“The Special Team of Prosecutors against Corruption of the Power preliminarily arrested Jorge Ernesto Hernández Fernández, alias “el español”, investigated for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and corruption of officials”reported the Public Ministry on its Twitter account.
“The fiscal procedures carried out -simultaneously in 6 districts of Lima and Callao with the support of the Special Police Team- include searches of homes and a National Police office, as well as the seizure of documents”, added.
The term of detention of all those investigated is ten days.
According to investigations by the Prosecutor’s Office, Jorge Hernández “El español” would have been in charge of hiring hitmen to attack Colonel PNP Harvey Colchado and other people who were in charge of investigating former President Pedro Castillo.
The raid also ordered the search of several properties, including the home (Surco) of Henry Augusto Shimabukuro Guevara, former presidential adviser to Pedro Castillo; that of the Spanish citizen Sergio Castellanos Martínez in San Isidro; and the house (Magdalena) of Colonel PNP Jorge Fernando Cassanova Cubas, former director of Digimin.
